If you're like me, and overindulged during the holidays, not to worry, you can lose any unwanted weight gain by simply drinking a delicious weight loss ginger drink (which I'll share below).
 

Ginger has a long list of health benefits to aid in your weight loss and health goals. Ginger is a wonderful way to detox, it increases metabolism, gastrointestinal relief, increases immune system, anti-inflammatory, enhances satiety, increases energy, and it's a natural diuretic--all of which aids in weight loss. 

Ginger also helps the body to shed fat by improving digestion by increasing the pH of the stomach and stimulating the digestive enzymes to break down food for better absorption.

Because ginger also has a high fiber content, when eaten fresh, it increases gastrointestinal motility. This enhances the body to absorb nutrients more efficiently and excrete non-essential food quicker.

A healthy digestive system that works efficiently can help process ingested food more proficiently, and this can contribute to weight loss because the bulking parts of ingested foods can be processed and eliminated quickly from the body.

Studies suggest that ginger is also a thermogenic agent that can help burn fat by boosting the metabolism by a whopping 20%! Ginger increases the rate of metabolism and burns fat stores in the body, which helps in treating obesity. Here’s what you’ll need to make a delicious Ginger Weight Loss Drink:

Ingredients:

8 (to 16) ounces of warm water (heated on the stove -- NOT in a microwave)
1/2 tsp dried ginger or fresh ginger (1-inch thumb)
1/2 tsp turmeric (optional)
1/2 lemon freshly squeezed
1/2 tsp cinnamon or a stick of cinnamon
1 tsp raw honey

Add all ingredients but the honey into a saucepan place on medium high heat with one or two cups of water (depending on how strong you like it). Heat for 5 to 10 minutes. Turn off stove and steep for up to 10 minutes. Strain and pour 8 oz of water into a mug, add honey and mix well. Drink warm and enjoy!
